Description:

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) protects people in England and Wales who may not have the mental capacity to make certain decisions for themselves, such as about their health and finance OPG is responsible for registering lasting and enduring powers of attorney, so that people can choose who they want to make decisions for them. We maintain the public register of deputies and people who have been given lasting and enduring powers of attorney. We also supervise and support deputies appointed by the Court of Protection and look into reports of abuse against registered attorneys or deputies.
